Rick Ross’ date-rape-referencing lyrics on rapper Rocko’s song “U.O.E.N.O.” have already sparked online outrage among women’s groups. Now a second wave of petitions is calling for Ross’ endorsement deal with Reebok to be discontinued, in part because “Reebok devotes a lot of time, energy and money to marketing to women.” Black women! Black Men! Community of Allies! what is our response? How do we act together NOW to end the continuous, blatant lack of accountability and disregard for our humanity, even by our own Black brothers. What say you on this issue? Join us tomorrow at Black Women's Blueprint, and weigh in on a list of radical suggestions for immediate action that have already come forth from other brilliant sisters and brothers on this issue. If you cannot make it to this meeting tomorrow, please make your suggestions within this conversation. We will be posting the notes to the meeting, here on Freedom Lounge in the next day or two.
